Tequila Cocktails, Shots, Flights and Bites

El Oso (The Bear)

  • 1.75 oz Arrogante Anejo Tequila
  • 0.75 oz Honey Liqueur (such as Bärenjäger)
  • 0.5 oz Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur
  • 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
  • Garnish: Orange Wheel or a Maraschino Cherry (optional)

Place a large chunk of ice in the chilled old fashioned glass.

In a Boston shaker, combine Arrogante Anejo tequila, Angostura bitters, Maraschino Liqueur (such as Luxardo) and honey liqueur.

For this recipe, we recommend Bärenjäger Original Honey Liqueur. Because Bärenjäger is aged in bourbon barrels, it's flavor profile matches nicely with the flavors of Arrogante Anejo, which is matured in American oak barrels that were previously used in bourbon production.

Add a handful of ice to the shaker and shake vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds. Strain the drink in the prepared glass.

If desired, garnish the cocktail with an orange wheel or a maraschino cherry.

El Oso is an elegant, sophisticated drink that skillfully balances vanilla and honeyed oak flavors of Arrogante Anejo - accentuated by Bärenjäger liqueur - with floral, pine, nutty cherry pits and peppermint candy aromas of Luxardo Maraschino liqueur.
